Question
Dear Baja SAE Representative, Our team has a question about the head restraint rule. Wasn't exactly sure what it was meant by this rule. Does it consist of just a pad behind the helmet that restricts the movement of the drivers helmet? Also the seat we are using has a support that extends all the way up to the middle of the driver's helmet. Does this seat support cover the head restraint rule?
Answer
The head restraint rule is a supplement to the helmet. Ideally the restraint is a durable, energy-absorbent material, which is rigidly attached to the frame. Seats with integrated head restraints are acceptable, provided that they adequately contact the helmet for all size drivers.
