The Design Comparison Requirement was not necessary in 2021 due to the 2020 and 2021 design event being all virtual. With the return of Design Judging taking place in person for the 2022 competition season, the design comparison requirement will be mandatory for onsite judging of the top ten teams from 2021.

Because the 2021 Baja SAE season hosted three events between the Knowledge Event, Arizona Validation Event and Louisville Validation Event all top ten teams from each of those event will be required to prepare a design comparison between their successful 2021 design and the current 2022 vehicle.
